Just a short note to highlite a very positive entry at Stephen Pierce’s blog : DT Alpha Talk Back.  For those of you that don’t know Stephen, he is a very success Internet businessman who attempts help others achieve the same success.  He has a very moving success story.  At one point he found himself in the hospital with a gunshot wound and realized that unless he made changes he might not make it next time.  His blog entry on encouragement is a good one and the audio message a moving message.  I recommend that you listen to it.

Mark Joyner (famous Internet Marketer) is at it again. He has put together a contest with a prize that many would die for. The three winners will each be given a custom plan on how to market their book into a best seller. Mark has done this multiple times with his own books. There’s no one better to get advice from on this topic. If you have a book to sell don’t miss this opportunity. Even if you don’t win, the runner up prize for all the other contestants is great too. It is a web cast with Mark and Richard Webster discussing speed writing. That will also be a great aid to those of us who write.

To win this contest you have to supply a video with you talking about a moment in your life that was either funny or life changing. Work fast however the deadline is February 26

Where’s that Path again? - Keeping your Focus

I thought I would say a little about staying focused. I find it hard to stay focused on a single path. I bet you have the same problem. Every day I get around three to four hundred emails. They all have ideas that they are trying to sell to me.

I get the multi-level marketing offers, the getting more traffic ones, the new marketing systems, and the investment systems. Every one of these people knows how I can make my fortune quickly and easily. They are all sure that if I got their information I would be clued in to the best way to make money. As an aspiring copywriter I enjoy seeing how they attempt to convince me. The problem is that sometimes I believe them and buy their ideas. When I buy their ideas I set aside my plans and try to figure out how to use their system. I wind up switching between different plans and wind up getting confused on what needs to be done.

I spend all my time in analysis and none in actually getting things completed. I’m going to start simplifying my life and stop reading all those emails. I saw Larry Winglet’s new book and I found a profound truth in it. (I’ll review it fully soon) He states that everyone knows what they need to do, they just don’t do it. We all know in our gut what we should be doing. We just keep looking at all the options and getting confused. I think I need to take what I’ve learned and make some of my goals happen. I know the basics well enough to do that. I’m sure there may be better methods than I know, but if I spend my life looking for them, nothing happens.

So, I’m going to slow down on my analysis and take some actions. I suggest that you look at where you are with your quest. Is the reason you aren’t farther along your constant search for the best method? Take some actions today. You will be glad you did.

It’s all about Focus – either fuzzy or clear

February has been challenging for me. I’ve been distracted and scattered. Yes, life has sucked and problems have seemed large. I couldn’t get back to writing. Well, you may note that I’m writing now. What happened to get me back and is there a lesson in it for you too?

This Friday I spoke to a friend of mine, Will Van Inwagen. Will is a wellness coach and works on wellness programs for companies. He’s also a client of mine. We were talking about our individual businesses. He told me a short story about his.

He was in a quandary a month or two ago with his business. He wasn’t sure if he should work with his wife to build up her business or branch out on his own. He decided to go work his. (His wife’s business is going pretty well by itself) He decided to be the wellness coach his business needed. When he stopped dividing his identity between part time office manager and wellness coach, good things started happening. His business efforts seemed magnified. Clients started appearing and they even started signing up for services.

By thinking of himself as a wellness coach and focusing on that, more opportunities started arising. The law of attraction was working in the real world. That got me thinking.

I realized that my focus issues were all about my indecision between getting a second job or working to get more writing clients. I couldn’t commit to one or the other. I couldn’t write and I couldn’t job hunt either. When I committed to the writing everything became clearer. Will I need a second job? Well, I might. I’m going to be open to that option and will see what develops. But I know now that it will be a second job only. I see that my quest is still viable and I am a writer.

What’s happening to me now? I’ve been seeing more job ads than ever. I’m sending resumes. Beyond that, more writing opportunities have surfaced too. It’s going better and I’m happier too. The dream does not have to be optional. So that’s the lesson. Don’t let life steal your quest.
