Geek South - Tri-City Technology Organization

I would like to highlight a great organization here in the Tri-Cities. That group is Geek South, a loosely organized collection of people who’s passions are computers, the Internet, and where technology is taking us. The members are a broad mix of computer professionals, interested amateurs, and the technology curious. Many own their own businesses or work in the technology field. They are as a whole creative, smart people and fun to be around. A reflection of that is the organization setup. There are no dues or other restrictions. The only requirement is to be interested. Everyone is welcome. There are no tests on your computer knowledge. (I am grateful for this) To be a member you show up to meetings. Once a month on a selected Tuesday night every one shows up at a local resturant for the meeting. A presentation about some facet of technology is given by someone. These range from discussion of online security threats to the features of the Iphone. I always learn something interesting. Then we eat, we talk, and we visit. It is great fun. Because everyone is from all over the area, they rotate meetings between Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport. You can find out from the blog. I recommend you check the blog and attend the next meeting. You will meet a wide range of interesting friendly people and have a good time. You may even learn something.

Good Software to support group to do lists

I recently got word of a really good task list software package. It’s call ‘TaskFreak’ and it’s a web based task list software. It supports multiple people and projects. Because it’s web based you can get your tasks from anywhere you have net access. This is great for small groups that need to be coordinated. I have a video intro to the task program. It’s by a photographer, so the examples are related to that business. It shows the operation very well though.

The tutorial is at : http://www.mattantonino.com/tutorials/bridefreak/bridefreak001/index.html

The best of all is that it is free. And even better than free it is open source so other people have been writing add ons for it. I haven’t had a chance to look though all of them yet. I’m thinking about using it myself but have not decided yet. The only limitation I can see is that must be on a server to run. I will let you know.

Quick Stress Relief Technique

I would like to introduce you to the quickest method of stress relief I have ever found.  Using it I’ve been able to go from rattled to calm in a few minutes.  It may not work every time but I find it works often enough to be very useful.  It’s from a relatively new branch of medicine called ‘Energy Psychology’.  The technique is called ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’ or EFT.  It is a combination of acupuncture and mental exercise.  The best thing is that it is easy and there’s no need to do it daily.  You can just use it when you need it.  You simply concentrate on your stressful situation and then lightly tap a series of pressure points.  There are only about ten or twelve and they are the same ones each time.  For that reason it’s easy to learn.  You will find a lot of practitioners on the Internet that use it to work people though awful conditions.  Don’t be intimidated by the professionals however.  You can learn this in twenty minutes (ten if you are smart)  and be able to use it on yourself to take the stress off.  The main web site has a free down loadable manual.  It is very clear.  I recommend you use the short cut method shown in the back.  I find it works for me and is very quick.  You will also find about a million testimonials on the site.  People have used this to help with a lot of mental and physical conditions.  I can’t vouch for all of them but there are a lot of true believers trying it on everything.  Don’t be scared off by their furor.  They wouldn’t be so excited if it didn’t really work.  I suggest you try it before you dismiss it.  When it works it can be amazing.  It’s worth feeling foolish the first time

Useful video - Success Technique

I discovered an interesting video the other day. It’s from John Reese. He is a very successful Internet marketer and marketing instructor. He has put together a video on a success technique that he uses. He calls it ‘rebooting your brain’. It is a process of self discovery that helps you focus on your current life situation. The idea is that by being honest with yourself on all your issues you can make inroads on resolving them. The video is sixty seven minutes, but I think you will find it useful. He is not charging for it and it does not relate to any product he is selling. He wanted to release it as a good thing. Listen and see if you think this will help you.

Welcome to my blog. This is my alternate blog.  My main one is slanted toward business and copy writing.  It’s goal is to get me some business attention and clients.  My goal here is to comment and share information on other topics.  This is where I’m going to comment on self help material, mental enhancement ideas, meditation, current culture, and the world at large.  So, if everything works out this should be interesting.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
